IIRIS KILLING

It's not that we hate Halloween or anything, but it's often used as an excuse for artists to crack on with some half-arsed pumpkin-carving Instagram action or release a naff "spooky" cover - or worse, original - song. Estonian-born, London-based singer IIRIS broke that mould just before the weekend however (yes, we know we're a bit late) with her Halloween tribute to legendary punk singer, Amanda Palmer, explaining on her SoundCloud page: Early Halloween present for you guys and a tribute to Amanda Palmer! "The song is inspired/quoted by AFP's 'Trout Heart Replica'. Intended to be a tune to dance to at a Halloween party. Enjoy being alive and not killing peeps/hearts! Hearty Halloween guysz!" 'Killing' is produced once more by IIRIS' longtime collaborator, Proverb, and takes her into slightly less familiar territory, with striking house piano riffs helping to punctuate her sharpest, most vital vocal performance yet. Frighteningly good synthpop. - DC
